We have a Bosch WFK 2401 that is approximately 8 years old. I am not sure what cycle it was on when all of a sudden a loud noise started coming from the washer. Sounded like a gear stripping. A loud ratchiting sound. Was rapid and loud, not a tumbling sound if something is rolling around in the drum. Turned it off, noise stopped. Unloaded the washer, turned it on and drum started to turn and 4 to 5 seconds later loud noise came back. I am at the stage of trying to figure out how to get a look in

Check to see if inner drum is loose indicating bearing problem..Also check two springs on top of tub evident with lid off they can snap/ good luck
