My washing machine will not spin. the pump is working. It has no belt. the lid is closing. the drain lines are not clogged.

if this is a whirlpool design i.e. kenmore,roper,some admiral,maytag etc its possible your drive coupling is broken. I would fill it up on low water and if it does not agitate, but is making noise likes its running and it pumps water out...I would say your coupling is bad ..if it makes no noise while filled. the lid switch is bad. lean washer over enough to get under front of it. There are two clips that hold pump on..remove these and pull pump off motor, then there usually are two screws holding the motor clips on. remove both screws that go thru motor clips and remove all wiring from motor and remove motor,...at this point. You should be able to tell the coupling is bad , if it is...remove and reinstall as seen on motor and transmission and then reinstall.....Bruce Denton
